EAA Accessibility Statement – Smartwatch for Kids
This product is specifically designed for children under 11 years of age and is therefore exempt from certain accessibility requirements under the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) in accordance with the exemptions for products not intended for use by persons with disabilities.
Despite this exception, Xplora continues to strive to integrate accessibility aspects where technically and reasonably possible within the framework of a child-centered design.
The following accessibility features are supported on the smartwatch:
- Adjustable volume control with sound amplification up to 50 decibels.
- A simple and clear user interface with clear visual guidance and error messages.
- Visual options for important audio messages.
- Information is not conveyed solely through colors.
- Sufficient contrast between text and background.
- Adjustable text size for improved readability.
- All user manuals and product documentation are available in accessible formats in accordance with EN 301 549 – Section 5
RTT (Real-Time Text) is not supported on this device as the smartwatch is designed to only allow voice calls with pre-approved contacts created by guardians. Due to the limited screen size and safety concerns for children, the text input feature is intentionally limited and not offered to children.
Additionally, the companion app that guardians use to manage the smartwatch is developed in accordance with the accessibility requirements of the European Accessibility Act. The app uses the built-in accessibility features of Google Android and Apple iOS, including screen readers, voice control, dynamic text size, and enhanced color contrast.
Although the smartwatch does not support advanced assistive devices (such as external screen readers), we will continue to evaluate technical improvements in future versions.
As for Xplora's websites, all image accessibility requirements have been met, ensuring that EAA visibility requirements are met. In addition, the conditions for the use of screen readers have been created, ensuring a seamless experience for people with disabilities.
As for the other website variables, they are already largely compliant with the standard, providing a clearer and more consistent user experience across all customer touchpoints. Final adjustments are currently being made to all PDF documents in all Xplora countries, which will complete the process of achieving fully EAA compliant websites.
